Happy New Year!! In February, you like that!? As you probably noticed, I took off blogging all of December and January. 2016 was a pretty difficult year and the holidays were no exception. After nearly two years on high doses of prednisone, I weaned off in November right about the time my family came down with the Norovirus. I had a little visit to the ER and spent a lot of time withdrawing with nausea, dizziness, and the shakes all while caring for the sick people and cleaning up their bodily fluids. #momlife am I right? No sick days for the mama.
The Water Man threw out his back and hobbled through the holidays so we canceled our trip to see the snow and had to celebrate with out of town family without daddy. I did good just to meet obligations, have a little fun and stay afloat. Sometimes life is like that. December pretty much summed up all of 2016 for us. Last year was hard to the last minute when I had an allergic reaction on New Year’s Eve to shellfish (we think), which I have eaten my whole life. Needless to say, I was ready for 2017!
2016 wasn’t all challenges and thanks to amazing family, friends, and readers, I had many blessings. To wrap up the year, I wanted to share your favorite posts of 2016, just in case you missed one!
I sent off My Sunshine to kinder this year and while it gave me gray hairs and nearly broke my heart, I am so proud of my baby who is loving his first year of elementary! Everyone loved reading about our transition, thank you so much for the moral support! #momtribestrong
This year The Water Man and I celebrated our first decade of marriage! WooHooooo! It has been a ride. We usually learn lessons the hard way, so I try to be transparent and share real stories and tips that you can relate to. Marriage is hard work man, so I’m glad we’re all working on it together.
This was such a hard post for me to put on the internet, but it was raw and honest and just poured out of me. I still believe every word and I am thankful that so many of you feel like we can be a part of the change, right where we are.
On that note, I am ready for the changes that the new year brings! I finally got some time to write so I can share some lessons from last year and some of my 2017 goals. If you are a bit behind like me, don’t stress, there is still time to rock your resolutions or make them now! The changes are supposed to last all year, not just January anyway, right?! I’ll check back soon with resolution ideas and fill you in on how I did on my one resolution from last year. That’s right, I only made one.
In the meantime, you can re-read your favorite posts from my first year on the blog and look at this picture of my adorable growing little people, the last evidence of my prednisone moon face and see how we are turning The Water Man’s hair gray! Love you, babe! Happy 2017 friends!
