I almost didn’t finish this writing challenge! We are slammed busy at our house and the tiny humans have turned into Halloween monsters and are not sleeping. We are not functioning on all cylinders around here!
With these last few days I thought about writing about why I am The Water Wife and how the waves of the sea, the river or the lake’s shoreline gives me peace. I was going to write about trying not to hope away these days with littles (even when they are up all night and I can’t remember my own name) and all along I’ve been wondering if I fit in with these Five Minute Friday peeps and then I saw today’s #fmfparty prompt and knew I had found my people!
The most voted on word for the challenge was BACON! I couldn’t pass this up and it gives me a chance to tell you a little story about my love for bacon! Today will be my final challenge post, it has been quite the exciting October. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have!
I do love bacon, I mean who doesn’t. But pregnant with My Sunshine I really, really had a hankering for the beloved processed meat! I ate bacon every day of my pregnancy, at least once if not two or three times! It was more delicious then than it had ever been before or has been since. After losing our first son, The Water Man wanted me to take it easy. So I did a lot of napping and nursery planning and bacon eating.
Every morning I started with a traditional Texas delicacy, breakfast tacos! Every day. I loved a wedge salad with bacon crumbles, I ate at least a hundred BLT sandwiches and my most very favorite bacon dish was combining it with my other favorite pregnancy craving, mangos. I ate countless bacon and mango salads. If you don’t know what that is, you shouldn’t, I’m pretty sure my pregnancy created it, just pieces of bacon with pieces of mango mixed together! I have never eaten it not pregnant and it sounds pretty disgusting now but I loved it, especially with a side of sauteed spinach. My poor husband having to witness this kind of eating day in and day out, all the while freezing as I kept our air conditioner set in the 50’s through that winter.
I never saw any problem with said bacon eating until we were at one of our monthly check ups and The Water Man with a straight face, just as serious as he could be, asked our ob if I could give the baby high cholesterol in the womb.
If you’re wondering, you cannot give your baby high cholesterol in the womb. Thank you very much! But… the only meat My Sunshine will eat is, you guessed it, bacon!! What was your strangest pregnancy craving?
Read all of my fun post from this challenge! Thanks for sticking with me!
